Wealden bowlers beaten

Wealden Bowls Club men's dream of reaching the fifth round of the Denny Cup for the first time were shattered by a strong Swale side who eventually won by 29 shots.

With ex-England player Lee Shoobridge and two current under-25 internationals in their team Swale were always going to be difficult to beat but Wealden more than held their own for three-quarters of the game.

The away rink skipped by Alex Parsons had a rip-roaring start, putting 11 shots on the board before their opponents scored. With the two home rinks led by Ivan Parsons and Chris Thomas locked in close struggles the early stages of the game were just in Wealden's favour.
