The 2022/23 East Sussex Football League season will kick off tomorrow (Sat Sep 3) - with one fewer division but an extra team than ended last term.

There will be five divisions instead of six for the new campaign, which will begin with a total of 52 sides - up one from the number which finished the 2021/22 programme.

Four of the five divisions contain 10 sides or more, however, with the league having increased the size of most divisions to provide clubs with extra matches.

The 11-team Premier Division has a somewhat different feel to it. Reigning champions Battle Town have departed to join the Mid Sussex League, while Sidley United have moved in the opposite direction.

Bexhill AAC and Rye Town have come up from Division One, and Westfield II have made the leap from Division Two. Wadhurst United have gone down to Division One and Northiam 75 will field just one side, playing in Division Two.

The second tier also features a new club in Eastbourne-based AFC Jesters, plus promoted pair Little Common II and Sandhurst.

But last weekend's withdrawal of AFC Hollington - winners of three trophies last season - means Division One is down to eight clubs.
