Established in 1959, the Arundel Players have played a vital role in the local arts community for decades. However, the continued success and preservation of the historic theatre now relies on the support of volunteers from the community.

Dawn Smithers, Chairman of the Arundel Players says: “The Theatre is in need of volunteers for various roles to ensure it’s continued success and operation. We are urgently seeking volunteers to support an already over-stretched team for lighting design and operation, sound, set building, stage management, bar, and front of house. By offering your help in these areas, you can contribute to the preservation of the Arundel Priory Playhouse and play a part in promoting the arts in our community”.

Thanks to the dedication of sponsors and the hard work of numerous individuals, the Oratory was transformed into the beautiful and intimate Arundel Priory Playhouse in 1977. Serving as a stage for countless performances, the theatre has become a source of entertainment and joy for the local community.

In addition to volunteering, the Arundel Players are also inviting individuals from both within and outside of Arundel to become members of the theatre. With an annual subscription fee of £15.00, members will receive advance notice about performances, a regular newsletter, updates on auditions, and the opportunity to actively participate in productions. Membership also includes invitations to informal social events, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among theater enthusiasts.

Dawn continues: “The Arundel Priory Playhouse holds a special place in the hearts of community members, and its preservation relies on the continued support of volunteers and members. Show your support by attending the Open Day on November 4th and considering becoming a member of the Arundel Players or offering your help in the many roles we have available”.
