Tributes to a "remarkable" teacher
Bernard Fielding, a former housemaster at Lancing College, died on Friday, January 30, after a severe bout of the flu.
Jeremy Tomlinson, the registrar at Lancing College, paid tribute to the 82-year-old's devotion to his pupils.

Hide Ad"He was a person of tremendous loyalty and a very honourable gentleman," said Mr Tomlinson.
"He was very considerate and absolutely unselfish in everything he was doing and doing it for the good of other people.
Respected
Mr Fielding had three children, James, Jo and Charlotte, and six grandchildren, Jake, Adam, Ben, Luiza, Tom and Charlie.
His wife Philippa-Anne died nine years ago.
"He was a true academic, a linguist, and a very, very well respected man," said Mr Fielding's daughter, Jo.
"He just was a very loved man really."

Hide AdMr Fielding was second housemaster at Lancing College from 1961 to 1976, and deputy head from 1982 to 1989, as well as being involved with several local charities including the Worthing Samaritans, and the Worthing Churches Homeless Projects.
When he retired in 1989 he moved to First Avenue, Worthing, and was one of the founding members of the first governing body at Our Lady of Sion School.
Michael Scullion, headmaster of Sion, said: "Bernard was, first and foremost, an educator of the highest calibre.
"The fact that the school continues to thrive is in no small measure because of his hard work and dedication."
