Stane Street flooding: Southern Water 'working around the clock' as road closed for at least ten days

Southern Water has responded to concerns from residents over Stane Street being closed for ten days due to flooding.

The Westhampnett Road has been closed since Tuesday, November 8, following heavy rainfall and flooding across the area.

Residents in the area had raised concerns about the impact of the flooding as the road’s closure entered its tenth day today.

A spokesperson for Southern Water said: “We know how distressing flooding can be and our teams are currently knocking on doors to identify householders in Stane Street who may have been impacted following extreme rainfall.“We are working around the clock, and have a road closure and diversion in place to redirect traffic. We have four tankers on site that are maintaining and managing flows through the main network in the area and we are working closely with the community to prevent further flooding."Investigations into the full circumstances are ongoing."
