Paul was appointed head while the new state-of-the-art school was being built following the closure of Freda Gardham Primary and Tilling Green Infants.
Since then the school has enjoyed good results.
Paul leaves at the end of term to take up a post as Executive Headteacher for Aurora Academy Trust, which runs a number of schools in Bexhill.

Highlights of his tenure there include organising children to take part in a big street parade to celebrate the Olympic Torch passing through Rye last summer.
When Paul was appointed in 2008 he wasted no time in setting out his intentions and the direction he wanted the school to go in, telling a packed public meeting in Rye: “The new school will be amazing.”
“On one of my first visits to a Rye school a child said to me “I hate school, it’s boring.” - that is going to change. I want motivated staff and pupils.
