Agincare welcomed the government’s lifting of restrictions on May 4, which meant people living at homes like Fulford, in East Street, could again be taken on low-risk trips out without having to self-isolate for 14 days afterwards.
The independent care provider has been supporting John’s Campaign in its call to ensure residents’ freedom and choice are respected, and during the pandemic has enabled visits to the home to take place whenever possible.

Hide AdTim Buckley, Agincare Homes’ chief operating officer, said: “We know that visiting and outings are absolutely essential to the well-being of Agincare’s residents and their loved ones.
“Our commitment throughout the pandemic has been to do our absolute best to ensure safe visits and trips out are possible at every single Agincare home across the country.”
Recent good weather has enabled Frank and Dora Harmer to take trips out together as a couple.
Frank said: “We saw a lot of boats and wouldn’t mind doing the trip again and, of course, the fresh and sea air did us good. We don’t want to be inside all the time.”

For Jeanette Haselgrove just the thought of going out gave her ‘a lovely feeling’.
She said: “I couldn’t stop smiling. It was like an adventure. It brought back lovely memories. It’s where I’ve wanted to go more than anything.”
Another resident, John Geal, said: “It’s like having a birthday present.”
