TECHNOLOGY: Stay in touch on Skype
The free Internet calling app offers an easy and cheap way to stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues across the world.
Users can use Skype to call, video or send files to other Skype users completely free of charge. You can also call other contacts that are not on Skype but there is a fee for this.

Hide AdThe first step to jumping on the Skype bandwagon is to sign up – visit the Skype homepage and click the ‘Get Skype’ button in the top right hand corner.
To create an account, click ‘Join Us’ and follow the instructions. download the app to the device you will be using Skype.
Once you’ve logged in, click ‘Preferences’ then ‘Audio Settings’ to test your webcam and your speakers.
It’s easy to find a friend and add them as a contact on Skype.

Hide AdSimply click ‘Search’ and type the name, Skype Name or email address of the person you want to add and click ‘Add to Contacts’.
You’ll see when contacts are online and can start making calls, video calls and sending files.
