Car park safety down to parents
I share her concerns regarding the danger to children in car parks but cannot see how the provision of dedicated parking spaces would solve the problem.
It is surely up to those with a responsibility for young children to instil in them the inherent dangers of playing and running around in such places.

Waitrose are already very accommodating towards children by apparently turning a blind eye when parents use their car park at the beginning and end of the school day. Why on earth should they further restrict parking to genuine shoppers?
There will be many readers who, like myself, had small children before the existence of these reserved spaces. We regarded the responsibility of caring for our children as our own problem, not something to be shared by supermarkets, etc.
I think Waitrose should be commended for the brilliant service they provide, not criticised over such a trivial matter.
