New music at Creative Centre
It gets underway on Saturday October 1 with a double bill featuring Cocos Lovers and Will Varley.
Celebrating the recent release of their second album Elephant Lands, the six-piece Cocos Lovers bring to Rye a compelling set of deeply harmonic music that combines European folk with African township jazz. The result is a unique, joyous sound that never fails to keep an audience on its feet and jumping.

Hide AdCocos Lovers come to the School Creative Centre following a busy summer of touring, taking in Sidmouth Folk Week, Glastonbury, Greenman Festival and the Smugglers Festival in Kent.
Will Varley’s debut album Advert Soundtracks is a collection of emotional and deeply heartfelt songs shot through with a healthy dose humour.
The School Creative Centre’s season of live monthly gigs continues until the end of the year with the unmatched dirty Americana of Groanbox in November and a showcase of young local talent in December.
Sally Lampitt, from the Centre, said: “The School is the only venue in Rye dedicated to running a regular programme of original music, excluuding pubs, and there’ll be plenty more surprises in 2012.”
Tickets are £7 in advance or £8 on the door, available online at www.theschoolcreativecentre.co.uk or 01797229797 or at Grammar School Records in Rye High Street.
