Selsey residents took to social media after seeing a large police presence including a helicopter in the town.

Police descended on Selsey in droves this morning following reports of welfare concerns for a man.

A large number of police cars were spotted in the town and a police helicopter was dispatched to help trace the man.

He was found at about 12pm and was taken into care by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "About 9.30m on Tuesday 29 September, police received a report of concerns for the welfare of a man.

"He was located by officers in East Beach car park, Selsey, just after midday and passed into the care of the ambulance service."
