Fire services
All services are free unless incidents occur which involve outside services. This is at the discretion of the County Fire Officer.
As well as fires and rescue missions, the East Sussex Fire Service is well equipped to help with other emergencies. These include spillages of dangerous chemicals that endanger lives or the environment, floods, aircraft emergencies and train incidents.

In order to spread the word about fire safety, specialists give talks at schools and groups and specialist courses are available at youth organisations, so that their members can become safer citizens.
The East Sussex Fire brigade also provides an animal rescue service that rescue animals big and small. They are also in contact with the RSPCA so that they know exactly how to proceed with the rescue. The RSPCA will also give them advice on how to deal with an animal in distress, and how best to approach the situation.
Fire Safety centres are open at normal working hours – 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
All concerns over a fire or life risk are directed to Fire Control which is a 24hour a day facility. An officer will be on the road within 15 minutes of notification of possible danger to life.
