Calls for 20mph speed limit in Hastings and St Leonards residential areas
The 20s Plenty motion was discussed at a full council meeting on October 12, in which the motion received an overall majority vote.
Cllr Amanda Jobson, Green councillor for Gensing ward, said: “Councillors spoke of a real concern of speeding vehicles in their wards affecting residents with noise pollution particularly impacting resident’s health and damage to vehicles from speeding vehicles.

Hide Ad“There have been two deaths earlier this year, with Hastings and St Leonards preferring a safer more pedestrianised town centre with more active travel, encouraging walking and cycling to improve our local community life.
“We would like to get in touch with other 20s Plenty groups in the area, encouraging them to sign the petition to East Sussex County Council for an area-wide scheme. Implementing signage only 20mph areas, would be more cost effective, while working alongside the local community speed watch team to educate the public.”
