Beckley Triumph in cricket tournament
The event formed part of the College’s Olympic celebrations.
Eleven teams from Beckley, Brede, Guestling Bradshaw, Icklesham, Peasmarsh, Rye and St Thomas’, Winchelsea, participated in the day long competition.

Hide AdThe competition organised by Rye College School Sport Co-Coordinator John Lovell, was run by, Year 7 to 10, students from the College cricket teams and Junior Sports Leaders programme, as part of their leadership and citizenship curriculum. The students worked superbly in teams to umpire, score and support/coach the Primary children in a total of 24 matches.
Following four groups of league matches in the morning, semi-final matches and play off games were played, in the afternoon, before all Primary children, Rye College students and adults congregated around the boundary to watch an exciting final that was decided off the very last ball. Guestling Bradshaw ‘B’ needing 3 to win and fine fielding by Beckley producing a run out.
Semi Finals:
Rye ‘B’ 236 for 1 wicket
Beckley ‘A’ 259 for 1 wicket
Beckley ‘A’ won by 23 runs.
Guestling ‘A’ 227 for 3 wickets
Guestling ‘B’ 239 for 2 wickets
Guestling ‘B’ won by 12 runs
